This formula was designed to provide what you need to cover your bases, and none of what you don't. Multivitamins are popular, and with such extreme saturation in the marketplace, companies have tried to find as many ways as possible to differentiate their products. This has led to an arms race of exceedingly high dosages of poorly bioavailable and/or inactive vitamins and minerals, as well as the inclusion of fluff/often counterproductive ingredients to make a product label look more comprehensive, innovative, and impressive. This has ruined countless multivitamin formulas. Using high dosages of poorly absorbed minerals can lead to a misguided perception of nutrient status. Furthermore, high dosages of low-quality vitamins may not only be problematic via lack of efficacy, but in some cases, it can even lead to a paradoxical vitamin deficiency. For example, supplementing with the inactive form of vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) competitively inhibits the active form of vitamin B6 (pyridoxal-5'-phosphate [P5P]).
